Wet Peas

Author - A Rabbit

Not far from my burrow there is a nice big garden with 8 rows of pea plants near on one side near the woods. The new leaves and stems that grow out from the pea plants are so tasty, I love to chew them right off and eat them.

For weeks I nibbled on the pea plants in this garden. At first I nibbled mostly on the pea plants in the row nearest the woods, where I felt safest.  But some of my fellow rabbits and I ate so much that we had to start eating from the other rows.

One evening when I went to the garden to eat pea plants there was water falling all around the patch, like rain. The gardener had turned on a sprinkler, and he left it on all night and into the morning. I would get wet if I ate pea plants. But there are other gardens nearby, so I hopped away to another garden.

Now every evening and every morning when I return to my favorite garden hoping to eat pea plants, the sprinkler is on. I mostly leave the pea plants alone because I do not want to get wet. I go to another garden where I do not get wet eating pea plants. That's a lot easier and more comfortable for me.
