Kill Aphids Author - A Ladybug I kill aphids and eat them. Aphids are my preferred diet, though I also eat some other small soft-bodied insects such as mites. I live in a garden where I was released by a gardener who purchased me and a bunch of my friends from an online store. Where I live, in this garden, there are many plants that have large aphid colonies. I can eat 50 or so aphids in a day if I can find them, and I've been finding them on corn, roses, tomatoes, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, soybeans, peas, lettuce, spinach, and many other flower and vegetable plants and even trees. As long as there are aphids and water here, I don't have any reason to fly away. I will eat aphids and lay eggs so more ladybugs can hatch. The ladybug larvae that hatch from my eggs will also eat aphids and some other small soft-bodied insect pests while growing into mature ladybugs. The gardener likes me because I control aphids without doing any damage to the flowers and plants, unlike the insect pests I eat. I eat the pests before the pests eat the flowers and plants. I am the organic aphid killer. |
