I never pay late fees. I pay bills as soon as they arrive.

It took some discipline to keep enough cash in my checking account so that I could always pay bills immediately after receiving them, rather than waiting until payment due dates were near. Now it is a habit to pay bills immediately, and if the mail gets delayed by a few days, or something else unexpected occurs, my payments are still on time. I never have to remember to mail a payment on a certain date, and my mind is clear to focus on more productive activities.

I pay bills mostly online and by mail. I pay some bills with automatic payments and I write checks to pay other bills.
